Maurice Gunderson
Mr. Gunderson is Chairman of the Board of Contour Energy Systems and former Senior Partner at CMEA Capital with a successful track record of building and creating new energy technology companies. Prior to joining CMEA, he co-founded Nth Power, a venture capital firm specializing in investments emerging from the global restructuring of the energy industry. Prior to founding Nth Power, Mr. Gunderson spent more than 20 years developing energy products and launched five successful companies.
Dr. Winston Fu
Dr. Fu is a Senior Partner at US Venture Partners with a successful track record of building and creating new energy technology companies. Prior to joining USVP, he served in technical and marketing roles at Vixel Corporation, which was subsequently acquired by Emulex. Prior to helping launch Vixel, Dr. Fu researched and developed technologies in the areas of semiconductors, lasers and superconductors at Stanford University, Sandia National Labs and MIT.
Dr. Iain Cooper
Dr. Iain Cooper is currently the technology advisor for the Schlumberger Mergers and Acquisitions Group in Houston, looking after early stage technology investments. He holds a Joint Honors degree in Mathematics and Physics and a PhD in Meteorology. He is a Chartered Scientist and Fellow of both the Institute of Physics and the Royal Meteorological Society. He holds 17 granted patents in a range of oilfield technologies, and most recently co-authored and edited the textbook on Advanced Drilling and Well Technology
François Castaing
François Castaing is a 27-year veteran transportation executive and an engineering graduate from École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers in Paris. He was named "Man of the Year" by the French publication Le Journal de l'Automobile for his exemplary success in the United States—noted for developing the Renault-AMC structure, the launching of Renault Alliance and Encore for being the father of the Jeep Cherokee (XJ), as well as being one of the craftsmen of the rescue of Chrysler. He is a member of the United States National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and a fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
Dr. Robert Grubbs
Dr. Grubbs is a co-founder of Contour Energy Systems and world-renowned 2005 Nobel Laureate, Professor of Chemistry at Caltech. Dr. Grubbs has received numerous professional fellowships and awards and is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is also a founder, director, or advisor to numerous technology companies, including Cyrano Sciences, Coelacanth, Pharmacopeia, Insert Therapeutics, Calhoun Vision, and Symyx Technologies.
Rachel Sheinbein
Rachel Sheinbein is a Partner with the Energy and Materials team at CMEA Capital. In addition to Contour, she is a board member for Solaria, Danotek Motion, and Arcadia Biosciences and an observer for Reel Solar. Before CMEA, Rachel was a consultant for start-ups in the areas of bio-plastics, solar and water. For 9 years prior, Rachel worked at Intel, in wastewater systems, Environmental Health & Safety, and Supply Chain IT. Rachel is the President of the board of Expanding Your Horizons Network, a non-profit that encourages girls in math, science, engineering and technology. In addition, Rachel volunteers in various roles for Astia, the California Clean Tech Open and Imagine H2O. Ms. Sheinbein holds a Chemical Engineering degree with a concentration in Environmental Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Rachel was also a sponsored Leaders for Global Operations fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where she received an MBA and a Masters in Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a focus on operations and supply chain.
Dr. Jeremy Loh
Dr Loh leads EDBI's West America investment activities and is based in Silicon Valley, California. He joined Bio*One Capital, EDBI's dedicated healthcare investment arm in 2007 and was responsible for investment in the medtech sector. Prior to that, he headed up an engineering team developing autonomous machines in a robotic startup and had developed multiple patents for diagnostic and bio-artificial organ applications. Dr Loh received his mechanical and bio-engineering training at A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University, University of Southampton and Imperial College London.
Kian Hwa Tan
Kian Hwa is currently a Senior Vice President at SBI Ven Capital. He has more than 13 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, management consulting and industry in Asia and Europe. He was with OWW, a VC/PE firm based in Singapore; an investment banker with ECM Libra Investment Bank in Malaysia and Nomura International in the U.K. advising on IPO and M&A deals in the TMT, oil & gas and clean technology sectors; management consultant focusing on oil & gas; and corporate development at SembCorp Industries. He has an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management and an Engineering degree (1st Class Hons) from National University of Singapore.
