CFX Battery, Inc. Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Facility in Azusa, California

Bringing New Jobs and Advanced Battery Technology to the Area

Azusa, California - CFX Battery, Inc. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new 16,000 ft² facility on Tuesday, December 9, at 4:00pm. The recently completed facility includes laboratories and offices, as well as a 1,350 ft² dry room, which will allow the safe and efficient research and assembly of the company's advanced lithium primary and rechargeable batteries.

"The completion of this facility will create 25 new jobs in research and development, engineering and administration", said Maurice Gunderson, Chairman of the Board, CFX Battery, Inc. Mr. Gunderson went on to say, "Our advanced battery technology will move the industry forward, our primary and rechargeable batteries are environmentally friendly, safe and will last longer than what is currently out in the market."

CFX Battery was co-founded by Dr. Robert Grubbs, Dr. Rachid Yazami and Dr. André Hamwi. Dr. Grubbs is a Nobel Laureate (Chemistry, 2005) and chemistry professor at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Dr. Yazami, visiting associate at Caltech and research director of CNRS-Grenoble, France, is a world-renowned battery researcher. Dr. Hamwi is a professor at the University Blaise Pascal in Clermont-Ferrand, France with an affiliation with CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique from France) and is a distinguished fluorine chemist and researcher.

The company's technology has been exclusively licensed from Caltech and CNRS. "We have built a strong intellectual property portfolio that provides the platform for our advanced battery development and eventual commercialization," said Dr. Yazami.

CFX Battery employees will take the technologies that were developed in the labs of Caltech and CNRS (including nanotechnology and materials), optimize them, produce prototypes, and commence the qualification process with OEMs in various end-use markets ranging from automobile, medical, military, industrial, and consumer.

Speakers at the ceremony included Co-Founder and Director, Dr. Rachid Yazami, Chairman and Director, Maurice Gunderson, Chief Executive Officer and Director, T. Joseph Fisher, III.

Additional honored guests included Mr. David Martinon, Consul General of France in Los Angeles, Irwindale Mayor Larry G. Burrola, who presided over the ribbon cutting, and Ms. Laura Jimenez representing Assemblymember Ed Hernandez. Ms. Jimenez presented a certificate to executives of CFX Battery.

Over 125 people attended the event, which included, visitors from Japan, France, Morocco, Taiwan, and the United States.
